Benefits of Engaging in ITT

How could hosting a trainee benefit your school?

Schools play a vital role in ITT. This is because trainee teachers must gain experience in a placement school and receive high quality, supportive mentoring. By hosting placements, schools are importantly giving quality time and space for trainee teachers to become effective and skilled, setting them up for success to contribute to the workforce.

A strong pipeline of trainee teachers is key to addressing challenges in recruitment and retention in schools. Being involved in ITT can support a unique talent pipeline of trainees who may contribute to your own workforce in the future. For example, if they are successful and are offered a job at the end of their training year once gaining QTS.

In addition, you can invest in your existing staff, developing them to support other teachers through the mentoring role. They will have access to the latest research, practice and innovation on teaching and learning.
